Changes to Solent Go smartcard as tickets move to operator apps and on bus
April 02, 2026
Customers will still be able to buy all Solent Go tickets on the bus or through bus operator mobile apps, ensuring they can continue travelling easily and flexibly across the Solent region.
Current Solent Go smartcards will remain valid for travel until 29 June 2026, giving customers plenty of time to use any remaining tickets and switch to another way of buying their travel.
A spokesperson for Solent Transport said:
“We know most customers now buy their tickets directly through operator apps or on the bus, so this change simply reflects how people already travel. All Solent Go tickets will continue to be available, only the smartcard purchased from the Solent Go webpage is being phased out. Our goal is to continue offering convenient, joined‑up travel across the region, and this update helps make sure customers have simple and flexible ways to plan their journeys.”
From 6 April, bus operators including First Bus, Go South Coast and Stagecoach will offer the full range of Solent Go tickets through their apps. One‑day paper tickets will continue to be available from drivers.
Solent Transport will contact registered smartcard users directly and will share regular reminders across its digital channels.
Solent Go tickets provide simple, great‑value travel across the Solent area, giving customers flexible options for commuting, studying or visiting local destinations. A Solent Go ticket can be used across participating bus operators on the same journey, making travel easier and more joined‑up across the region.
